On 8 March 2008, a blend of the UK’s top chefs, restaurateurs and sommeliers teamed up at leading London restaurant, 1 Lombard Street and turned wine into water for thousands of malnourished children and families around the world, raising a fantastic £79,000 for Action Against Hunger.

A brigade of Michelin starred chefs including Action Against Hunger Ambassador Raymond Blanc (Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons), Shane Osborn (Pied á Terre), John Campbell (The Vineyard) and Herbert Berger (1 Lombard Street) joined forces with renowned sommeliers and wine experts to produce a unique four-course dinner followed by an exclusive fine wine auction.

To complete the gastronomic experience, each course was served with complementing wine carefully chosen by Henri                                       Chapon, director of wines for Hotel Du Vin and Master of Wine Peter McCombie.

Adding to the all-star line up leading figure in his field, David Elswood, International Head of Wine at Christies, and Tim Atkin MW, hosted the highly prized wine auction where some of the world’s most rare, collectable and                                                                                             prestigious vintages went under the hammer.
