The Champagne Taittinger reception, dinner and auction will take place at Bank Aldwych on Sunday 11 September 2005.

The evening has the backing of some of the UK’s top wine experts and leading sommeliers. David Elswood (International Head of Wine, Christie’s) will be conducting the auction. Robin Hutson (Founder of Hotel du Vin), Soren Jessen (owner of Noble Rot, 1 Lombard Street, Graze), Christian Delteil (Managing Director of Bank Restaurant Group plc) and Bill Knott play host to what promises to be a corker of an event.

Thierry Tomasin MCA (Aubergine), Matt Wilkin MS (The Capital Group), Ronan Sayburn MS (Gordon Ramsay Royal Hospital Road), Philippe Messy (L’Etranger and Beauberry House), Gearoid Devaney (Tom Aikens) and François Bertrand (Le Gavroche) are pitching in to help raise LOTS. Penfolds is sponsoring the dinner wines and guests will be steered by the finest nose in town as Gérard Basset MW decants full-bodied wine notes for the evening.

“Everyone should have enough food to eat and safe water to drink – yet over 800 million people around the world are denied these basic human rights. We’re in a privileged position in this industry to help address this injustice. Our passion for fine wine and food unites us in our endeavour to help those who struggle to feed themselves. Without safe, clean drinking water, communities around the world risk their lives every day. We invite all food and wine lovers to come along and help us turn wine into water,” comments Bill Knott, food and wine writer, and long-time supporter of the charity.

Tickets cost £150 each, which includes:
