Restaurants Against Hunger 2007
Fight Hunger. Eat out. 1-31 October
An easy recipe for fighting hunger: Fight hunger. Eat out.
Action Against Hunger calls on the country’s chefs and restaurateurs to unite in the fight against hunger.
The eighth annual Restaurants Against Hunger campaign is an international initiative that raises vital funds to help families around the world in their daily struggle to feed themselves. Although a year-round campaign, the focus of activity takes place in October with ‘Fight hunger. Eat out.’ month, to coincide with World Food Day on the 16th.
Last year’s campaign saw the restaurant industry raise over £140,000 with all monies going directly to Action Against Hunger. This year, 500 restaurants are expected to sign up, helping the charity to reach their target of £250,000 and making ‘Fight hunger. Eat out’ month the biggest ever.
We are delighted with the result of all the restaurants' hardwork in 2006 and would like to say a massive Thank you to everyone that fundraised and donated their time, enthusiasm and money to the campaign.
Participating restaurants donated part of the takings from selected dishes or invited their customers to make a voluntary donation to table bills. All funds raised during the campaign go directly to Action Against Hunger, which helps vulnerable families all around the world in their daily struggle to feed themselves and their families.
Dates for your restaurant diary
Fight hunger. Eat out.

It’s simple and free for restaurants, cafés and gastropubs to join and the emphasis is on enjoyment, not guilt: diners are encouraged to treat themselves to a restaurant meal and in doing so help families in some of the world’s poorest countries feed themselves. Each restaurant participates based on the demands of their business. Activities could include making an optional donation when paying the bill; giving a percentage of their sales from a specific dish to the charity or hosting special events and evenings.
Donate all year round
Restaurants Against Hunger is a year round campaign; our team helps enthusiastic restauranteurs to find the best way to fundraise throughout the year. Join the many restaurants who donate a small percentage of the profits from a specific dish throughout the year (i.e: 50p is donated each time an indulging Chocolate pudding is ordered at Bermondsey Kitchen in London SE1. In 2006, the restaurant raised more than £1,367 through this great idea!).
If you would like to send us a donation or get ideas on how to fundraise within your restaurant, don't hesitate to call Pauline on 0208 293 6190 or e-mail rah@aahuk.org.
