                                                                            Sunday 22 July 2007

With the great British weather notoriously unreliable, why not play it safe this summer and join in the fun at a unique indoor picnic whilst supporting a truly worthwhile cause?

On 22 July, humanitarian organisation Action Against Hunger presents Picnic Rocks!!, a gourmet indoor picnic, complete with live music at the infamous Embassy London in Mayfair. Some of London’s top chefs including Bryn Williams of Odette’s, BBC’s Great British Menu fame, Hari Nagaraj, head chef at the Cinnamon Club, Jennifer McLauglin, Carluccios and Garry Hollihead, head chef at the Embassy, have joined forces to help in the fight against hunger and raise funds to help families around the world in their daily struggle to feed themselves

On arrival, guests will be greeted with Champagne Taittinger and whisked off to the Embassy ‘picnic grounds’, courtesy of several hundred square feet of astroturf. Here, they can kick off their shoes and soak up the atmosphere whilst each chef prepares their very own epicurean picnics.  Diners will be able to mix and match from each chef’s station, enjoying the best that each chef has to offer, from Hari’s spicy summer fayre to Bryn’s very British al fresco affair.

Guests will get to bid at the charity exclusive auction to take home fabulous prizes including a two night stay at Bono’s Dublin hotel, The Clarence; a six night stay for six people in a luxury villa in Cyprus and a lesson for you and a friend at the fabulous Cookery School at Little Portland Street.

After dinner, the evening goes up-tempo as guests head downstairs to the Embassy’s private members club for a night of live music by headline band The Jives, supported by Nick Knowles' acoustic set, and late night drinking and dancing.

Dinner tickets are just £85 and include champagne Taittinger reception, unlimited gourmet picnic food and wine, entry to the private members’ club with music from live bands and the Embassy’s DJs and a delicious hangover bacon sandwich on departure.

After dinner tickets are also available for Picnic Rocks!! are £15 and include entrance to the Embassy’s private members’ club with live bands and DJs, a welcome drink and a bacon sandwich.

All funds raised from Picnic Rocks!! will go directly to Action Against Hunger, which helps vulnerable populations around the world in their daily struggle to feed themselves.
